Westminister committee urges UK government to formally name Stakeknife

A cross party group of MPs in Britain is pressuring the government to formally name a British agent who infiltrated the IRA and was suspected of involvement in numerous murders.

The Northern Ireland Affairs Committee says revealing the identity of the agent – codenamed Stakeknife – would be strongly in the public interest.

He’s understood to have been Freddie Scappaticci, who died around two years ago.
