Uisce Éireann is facing renewed criticism due to water supply issues on Gola Island.
These problems emerged during July 2025 when damage was caused to the undersea pipeline, which supplies drinking water from the mainland.
At present, water is being supplied by a tanker on the island.
As the tourism season is set to begin, Cllr Micheál Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig says the updates from Uisce Éireann and the time it is taking to restore water is unacceptable:
