Over 2,100 motorists caught speeding on Irish roads over Easter bank holiday weekend

The number of drivers caught speeding over the Easter bank holiday weekend has risen to over 2,100.

Gardaí are carrying out mandatory intoxicant testing and high-visibility checkpoints as part of a dedicated roads policing operation, which ends at 7am on Tuesday.

98 people have been arrested for drink or drug driving so far, while over 250 have been caught using their phone or not wearing a seatbelt.

44 people have been killed on the roads since the start of the year.
