Demand for TUSLA services in Donegal continues to grow

Demand for Tusla services in Donegal is continuing to grow, according to the agency’s General Manager in the county.

Marie Crawley told a meeting of the Donegal Local Community Safety Partnership that the number of children in care has increased from 226 in December 2022 to 242 at the end of last year.

She said that figure has now risen further, with 258 children in care as of Monday.

Of those, 76% are in foster care, 17% are placed with relatives in foster care, and 6% are in residential care.

Ms Crawley told Highland Radio News that the preference is always for children to be cared for in a family setting, and that securing more foster carers remains a priority:
