One year since devastating fire destroyed St. Mary’s Church, Derrybeg


Today marks one year since the blaze that destroyed St. Mary’s Church in Derrybeg.

The fire broke out on Easter Monday, engulfing the building and reducing it to ruins.

A fundraising effort after the fire raised over €500,000 towards the construction of a new chapel.

Gardaí ruled out foul play.

An architect has now been appointed, with the concept design at an advanced stage.

A quantity surveyor is also assisting with the insurance claim, which is progressing.
