Man given 5.5 year sentance for anal rape of 15 year old

A Donegal man has been jailed for five and a half years for anally raping a 15-year-old girl two years ago.
The 23-year-old accused was also convicted of having sex with the teenager on the same occasion in February 2008.
The jury failed to reach a verdict on a rape charge at his Central Criminal Court trial.
The now 17-year-old girl gave evidence that she was drinking alcohol with friends on school grounds when she met the accused.
He had driven another man up to the school and the group were hanging out in his car.
They shared a kiss in the front seat during the evening but she said later when they were alone he jumped over to her side of the car and sexually attacked her,
The gardai were alerted the following day after she spoke to members of her family.
The 23 year old accused insisted the sex was consensual and said he believed the girl was 17..not 15.
He was jailed today by Mr Justice George Bermingham for 5 and a half years
