
Finn Valley’s Mark English and Arlene Crossan have been included on the Irish team for the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.
English will run the 800m and goes into the event with the fastest time in Europe this year.
English has been in the shape of his life this season and looks poised to contend for a third medal.
His 1:42.97 at the London Diamond League shaved 0.4 of a second off his personal best.
Crossan has been included as part of the women’s 4x400m relay team.
Sharlene Mawdsley is also named despite confirming she’s suffered a hamstring injury.
The Tipperary sprinter pulled up during the 200-metres final at the National Track and Field Championships in Santry on Saturday.
Mawdsley posted on social media confirming the news last night, adding she is doing “everything possible” to recover quickly.
