GP services are failing to keep up with growing population demands.
New figures released to Sinn Fein TD David Cullinane show over 5,700 people struggled to get a GP appointment this year.
The data also shows the total number of GP’s has increased by 6 point 4 percent in the past five years , with those publicly contracted increasing by just over 2 percent.
This is despite an increase in the population of around 10 percent in the same time period.
In Donegal 94 Doctors were contracted under the General Medical Scheme by the HSE in December 2020, that number decreased to 93 in 2025 while non GMS doctors rose from 2 to 8 in the same period
