Ireland’s small watercraft registration system not fit for purpose – Senator Boyle

Ireland’s small watercraft registration system is not fit for purpose, according to Senator Manus Boyle.

All vessels, from large boats to small recreational vehicles, must be registered under EU rules.

However, Senator Boyle says delays and overly bureaucratic requirements, including providing details of every previous owner, have made the process unnecessarily complicated.

He says he knows Irish boat owners who have registered their vessels in other EU countries because of the difficulties with the current system:
