Residents and visitors are being encouraged to explore the history of Letterkenny’s Cathedral Quarter during Heritage Week.
A series of events is taking place next week, as a celebration of the history, architecture, traditional skills and community spirit of one of Donegal’s most significant historic areas.

The programme begins on Monday, 17th of August, with the popular Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter Jaunt, a guided evening walk through Letterkenny’s only Architectural Conservation Area, led by Cathedral Quarter Secretary, Donnan Harvey.
The tour begins at 8pm at the Hiring Fair statue on the Market Square and showcases many historic buildings, monuments and hidden features of the Cathedral Quarter.
On Wednesday the 19th of August, visitors are invited to explore an extensive collection of historic photographs, maps, newspaper archives and memorabilia
documenting the history of the Cathedral Quarter and the wider Letterkenny area.
This is being held at No. 3 Church Lane, running from 10am to 4pm.
On Saturday, the 22nd of August, Traditional Skills Day will take place in the yard behind No. 1 and No. 3 Church Lane, where skilled craftspeople will demonstrate traditional carpentry and blacksmithing techniques.
