Three men have been charged to court following their arrests during a significant public safety operation in Derry yesterday.
The annual Apprentice Boys of Derry Relief parade took place, with over 13,000 people participating in the event and 127 bands in attendance.
Police say not all of the arrests may be directly related to the parade, and enquiries are ongoing to establish this.
A 47-year-old man arrested under Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000 was later charged with the offence of wearing clothing or having articles as a member or supporter of a proscribed organisation.
A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of provocative conduct in relation to an incident in the Duke Street area of the city shortly before 12.30pm.
He was subsequently charged with behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace and doing a provocative act.
Both men are due to appear before Londonderry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, the 2nd of September.
Meanwhile, a 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault and disorderly behaviour following an incident on Limavady Road shortly after 5.40pm.
He has been charged with common assault, disorderly behaviour, and resisting police, and is due to appear before Derry Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
Another man, aged 35, was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in connection with an altercation reported to have involved two males on Spencer Road at 2.05pm.
He has since been released on police bail to allow for further enquiries into what happened.
