Tyrone boxer Jude Gallagher has exited the European Elite Championships after losing a 3-2 split this afternoon.
The Two Castles Olympian was beaten in his lightweight quarter final against Spain’s Ewart Andres Marin Hernandez.
The 22-year-old is a former World Youth silver medallist and was a silver medallist at August’s Mediterranean Games.
Judges scored the bout 29:28, 29:28, 28:29, 28:29 & 30:27.
Jude, a 2026 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, has had an excellent championships, with keynote wins over Maksym Bocarov of Slovakia and Lounes Hamraoui of France.
Irish fighters will return to the ring in the evening session.

After that, Aoife O’Rourke can upgrade to a silver medal if she defeats Russia’s Saltanat Medenova.
Her sister Lisa can also go one better than bronze when she takes on Iryna Lutsak of Ukraine, while Jon McConnell rounds out the action in a light-middleweight semi-final against Nabi Isgandarov.
