Gardaí wish to inform the public that from this Friday, individuals must be 18 or older to ride an e-scooter.
It is mandatory to wear a helmet and high-visibility clothing while using an e-scooter.
On-the-spot fines for offenders will increase from €50 to €100 in the coming weeks.
Fees for the release of a detained e-scooter are increasing from the 2nd October 2026.
Release will now cost €80 for the first day and €30 for each subsequent day it is detained.
