‘Right to be Forgotten’ law comes into force for cancer survivors

A new law coming into force today means people who’ve recovered from cancer can’t be penalised when it comes to mortgage protection insurance.

The Right to be Forgotten is now in place, forcing insurance companies to disregard a previous cancer diagnosis, if treatment is completed and the person has been in remission for 5 years.

It will apply to mortgage protection insurance for homes up to the value of €650,000.
