Free electrical waste recycling events to take place in Donegal this month and next

Donegal householders are being urged to avail of free upcoming e-waste and battery recycling events in October and November.

Delivered through a partnership between Donegal County Council and WEEE Ireland, the collection campaign will kick off this Saturday in Killybegs, before moving to Glenties and Falcarragh.

Donegal householders are being encouraged to recycle their old electrical items, with a series of free e-waste recycling events taking place across the county.

The first event takes place this Saturday at Shore Road Car Park in Killybegs, running from ten in the morning until four in the afternoon.

The campaign will then move to Naomh Conaill GAA Club in Glenties on Saturday the 31st, before wrapping up at Dennis McCallion’s Yard in Falcarragh on Saturday, the 7th of November.

Anything with a plug, battery or cable can be brought along for recycling, including old washing machines, televisions and mobile phones.

The initiative forms part of Donegal County Council’s ongoing efforts to meet national targets for electrical waste recycling.

In 2025, householders across Donegal recycled 1,189 tonnes of electrical waste through the WEEE scheme.

The Council is hoping to maintain, or even improve on, that figure this year, by encouraging more people to recycle their unwanted electrical items.
