Letterkenny Town Council has unanimously passed its budget for 2014, with projected expenditure of 7.85 million euro and a freeze in the commercial rate.
Manager Seamus Neeley told members the budget addresses many of the pressing issues identified in motions over the past number of months.
And he pledged that money spent on promotion and development will be maintained at this year’s level.
The discussion of the budget was dominated by the imminent abolition of the council, which will effectively cease to exist in May.

One of the longest serving members, Cllr Victor Fisher refused to attend the meeting in protest at the abolition.
