A member of the Public Accounts Committee says an Garda Siochana can’t be seen to be an ‘island that makes its own rules’.
It follows the Garda Commissioner’s appearance at the committee yesterday.
Martin Callinan is planning to get legal advice about whether one whistleblower who’s made allegations of corruption in the force should attend another committee hearing next week.
Independent TD Shane Ross says he expects the committee will get legal advice as well.
Meanwhile, Donegal North East TD Padraig Mac Lochlainn is Sinn Fein Justice Spokesperson – He says the whistleblowers have already been vindicated, and is taking grave exception at the commissioner’s comment that he found their actions “disgusting”………
