Mc Guinness questions claims of IRA involvement in Claudy bombing

The North’s Deputy First Minister Martin Mc Guinness has said he was told in 1972 that the IRA was not involved in the Claudy bombing.
Mr Mc Guinness, who has admitted being a senior IRA officer in Derry at the time of Bloody Sunday, says at the time of the Claudy bombing, security in Derry was so tight that a bicycle couldn’t have been smuggled out of the city.
Speaking to WLR FM in Waterford at the weekend, Mr Mc Guinness said there’s no question of anyone in the Derry Brigade of the IRA having had any involvement in Claudy, and as far as he’s been told, there was no IRA involvement at all……….
