Location: The Townhouse, Lower Main Street, Letterkenny.
Reports To: Owner/General Manager

Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on, energetic Bar Manager to lead a busy, wet-led venue focused on live music, major sports events, and a strong cocktail offering. This role suits someone who thrives in a high-energy environment, understands atmosphere, and knows how to build a loyal crowd while maintaining tight control of operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily running of the bar, ensuring fast, efficient, and friendly service
  • Lead from the front during busy nights, live music events, and major sports fixtures
  • Recruit, train, and manage a strong bar team, setting clear standards and expectations
  • Create staff rotas aligned with peak trading times (weekends, matches, events)
  • Maintain and develop a high-quality cocktail offering, including staff training and consistency
  • Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships, with a strong focus on margin
  • Plan and execute live music schedules, entertainment, and sports event promotions
  • Drive sales through atmosphere, upselling, and event planning
  • Ensure full compliance with licensing laws and health & safety regulations
  • Handle customer feedback and resolve issues quickly and professionally
  • Manage cash handling, tills, and end-of-night reporting

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Bar Manager or strong Assistant Manager in a high-volume bar
  • Experience in wet-led venues with live entertainment and/or sports trade
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid cocktail knowledge and experience maintaining consistency at speed
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Confident managing busy late-night trade
  • Good understanding of stock control, GP, and cost management
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and late nights

Desirable

  • Experience running live music or entertainment programmes
  • Knowledge of sports scheduling and event-driven trade
  • Personal licence (or willingness to obtain one)
