New legislation introduced by government means that elections to Udaras na Gaeltachta may not be held for up two years despite being due by October of this year.
Minister for Gaeltacht Affairs Pat Carey has rejected Opposition claims the Government is anti-democratic in introducing legislation which will postpone the elections.
