Gardai are investigating an assault on eight students from the Irish college in Loughanure last evening.
The students, all from Northern Ireland, were returning to Colaiste Mhuire when they were attacked by a gang of youths, some of whom were weilding hurleys.
Six Gardai have been brought into the village today to investigate the incident.
College principal Wayne Pickering says it was a very serious situation………
