A stand off between Staff of the Lough’s Agency, Gardai and a local fishermen is ongoing in Greencastle this afternoon.
Liam O’Brien, an Oyster fisherman, is at sea refusing to come ashore in protest at claims that the ongoing commercial dumping of mussel on oyster beds in Lough Foyle is destroying traditional stocks.
Mr O’Brien says that two of his colleagues have already been arrested today for Oyster fishing, a ban on which they says goes against the current law.
