There is positive news for the Eagle breeding programme in Donegal with news that two Golden Eagle pairs successfully hatched chicks in 2010.
Eggs from a third pair failed to hatch.
Five young Golden Eagle were also imported from Scotland and released in Donegal in August.
The project has been dogged by controversy in recent months as a number of birds were lost due to poisoning.
Lorcan O Toole of the Golden Eagle Trust says those were isolated incidents and has praised the local farming community for their co-operation in the Golden Eagle Project:
