Donegal Airport keeps PSO, but Derry-Dublin route now under threat

It’s been confirmed that the Government has agreed to support the continuation of the Public Service Obligation for Donegal Airport.
Carrickfinn will now continue to recieve the PSO when the exsisting contract expires in July 2011.
Sligo, Knock, Galway and Derry will not recieve the PSO after July.
MEP Pat the Cope Gallagher says without the Public Service Obligation, Donegal Airport would cease to exsist……..

Meanwhile, Senator Cecilla Keaveney has condemned Transport Minister Noel Dempsey for withdrawing the PSO from City of Derry Airport.
She says with Derry being crowned the UK capital of culture 2013, this subsidy was much needed.
While she welcomed the continuation of the PSO at Donegal Airport, she says Carrickfinn and Derry are different markets.
Senator Keaveney says the withdrawal of the PSO from Derry, could spell the end of the Derry to Dublin flight…….
