The headache continues for Brian Cowen.
Fianna Fail backbencher Noel O’Flynn is urging the Taoiseach to call time on his role as party leader.
The TD for Cork North-Central has indicated the Parliamentary Party should back the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Micheal Martin, to take over the post.
Mr Cowen is continuing to consult with TD’s and Senators on what’s best for the party as it faces into a general election.
The process is expected to conclude this evening.
Meanwhile, Sinn Fein’s newest TD Pearse Doherty is also calling on the Taoiseach to do the honourable thing and stand down.
He also criticised Fine Gael for questioning the timing of Labour’s move for a motion of no confidence in the Taoiseach:
