Concern is growing for the future of Gallagher’s Bakery in Ardara following confirmation that staff have been called to a meeting at 3 o’clock this afternoon. 190 people are employed at the plant.
It’s understood there’s been a review of operations at the Ardara plant by parent company I.A.W.S., which also owns the Cuisine de France brand. A new bakery has been developed in Dublin for Cuisine de France, with speculation that I.A.W.S. will move production of the Gallaghers and French Mill brands to Dublin as well.
There’s been no comment from the company, but Stephen Mc Cahill, Chairperson of Ardara Parish Council, says there’s a sense of fear in the area today……..
