It has been revealed that up to 50 jobs will be retained at Gallagher’s Bakery, Ardara following confirmation of the sale of the fresh produce section of the bakery.
That information was revealed at a public meeting held in the town last night called in the wake of the news that at least 124 jobs will be lost at the facility.
All major party’s were represented at last night’s meeting as was the local community.
On the night, questions were posed as to whether the IAWS/Arista plant in Dublin had been grant-aided by any State Agency which facilitated the displacement of jobs from Ardara to Dublin.
Cllr. Slowey and others asked that this matter be clarified as soon as possible.
