Sinn Fein says it would restructure Ireland’s banking debt in a bid to make the country’s deficit problems more sustainable.
The party hit out at what it called the ‘corrupt elite’ in society, blaming cronyism for the collapse of the economy.
It says it will endeavour to ensure that taxpayers are no longer taking the hit for senior bankers and bondholders who are responsible for the recession.
Speaking at the party’s manifesto launch in Dublin this afternoon, Economic Spokesperson for Sinn Fein Pearse Doherty said it separate Ireland’s banking debt from its sovereign debt:
