Donegal’s Seamus Coleman was named as the U21 Player of the Year at the Fai International Football Awards on Sunday night. Since the start of the campaign in England last August, the Killybegs lad has been receiving huge praise for his performances and goals scored. The Everton defender/midfielder who is now a regular starter at Goodison Park, is expected to make his international debut for the Republic in Tuesday’s clash with Wales at the Aviva Stadium. Also at the awards, The Republic of Ireland ladies u17 squad were honoured with a Special Merit Award for their successful campaign during the World Cup last September. Included in the squad were three Donegal players, Ciara Grant (Kilmacrennan Celtic), Tanya Kennedy (Finn Valley) and Niamh Mc Laughlin (Greencastle).
