Athletics – Record Breaking Weekend For Donegal Athletes

Finn Valley’s Tori Pena once again bettered the national indoor pole vault record competing in New Mexico last Friday night. She has now raised the bar to 4.30m and also qualified to represent Ireland at the European Indoors next month. Tori  returns to Ireland this week to prepare for the nationals in Belfast.
Following his blistering 800m in Austria last Tuesday, Letterkenny’s Darren Mc Brearty representing DCU took gold in the 1500m at the University Indoor Championships. Darren was first to cross the line in a time of 3.51 setting a new Irish University Record. In the same race  Donegal’s Danny Mooney won bronze and Letterkenny’s Michelle English won bronze in the women’s 1500m.
