The north west of the country was well represented on the pitch at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin last night. Debutants Seamus Coleman and Ciaran Clark impressed Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni during the 3-0 win over Wales in the Carling Nations Cup. Coleman looked lively down the right side while Clark who’s family comes from Milford put in a solid display in defence. Shay Given continues to be the most capped Republic of Ireland player. The Lifford stopper last night won his 110th cap for his country. The opening goal of the game on sixty minutes was scored by Darren Gibson. The Derry midfielder scored his first international goal with a brilliant 25 yard effort to blast the Irish in front. Damien Duff and Keith Fahy bagged the other goals.
It was a big night for Seamus Coleman, The Killybegs lad was pleased with how it went.
