Jamie McGrenaghan jailed for seven years for causing garda’s death

Jamie McGrenaghan has been sentenced for a total of seven years in jail for dangerous driving causing the death of Garda Robbie McCallion
19 year-old McGranaghan, from Cashel, Kerrykeel, was given five years for wreck-less endangerment of Garda Shane Lavelle and Garda Joanne Doherty on the same occasion.
He was also sentenced to three years for stealing a car and three years for a series of burglary offences
All sentences will run concurrently with the last year suspended.
During the trial the court had heard how the accused struck Garda McCallion on March 26th, 2009, after he and another man had stolen a car at Tara Court in Letterkenny
