Soccer – Harps & Derry Awarded Licences

Finn Harps and Derry City have both been granted their respective licences from the FAI’s Independent Club Licensing Committee. Derry City are one of fourteen clubs to be awarded a Premier Division License. The Candystrips have returned to the League of Ireland top flight having won the 2010 First Division. Donegal’s only senior club Finn Harps were also granted their First Division Licence this morning. Elsewhere Drogheda who were relegated at the end of the 2010 campaign will now take the place of Sporting Fingal, who ceased trading last Thursday. Drogheda have been granted a Premier Division Licence. Galway United have been refused a Premier Licence and are demoted to the ‘A’ Championship for failure to fulfil the financial criteria.
