Court told man threatened to kill former partner

A man allegedly told his former partner he would cut her throat and ‘cut her into little pieces’ after she refused to give him money Derry Magistrate’s Court heard today.
40 year old Charles O’Donnell of 19, Market Street was charged with assaulting the woman and making threats to kill against her on October 15th.
A police officer told the court that shortly after 3 o’clock on Saturday, the alleged injured party contacted them to say her former partner had demanded money and when she refused he made the threats against her.
She also claimed he told her if he was arrested for this he would come back and kill her.
He then threw a child’s toy and a plastic bottle at her.
The court was told O’Donnell had 25 previous convictions.
Defence solicitor Mr. Seamus Quigley told the court the offences would be denied.
O’Donnell was granted bail of £500 on condition he has no contact whatsoever with the alleged injured party.
He will appear again on November 17.
