The Republic of Ireland are heading to Poland and Ukraine next year after confirming their passage into the European Championships by drawing 1- 1 against Estonia in this weeks play-off second leg at the Aviva Stadium. With a final aggregate score of 5-1, they progress to their first EURO finals since 1988 and only the second in history. The last major tournament Ireland attended was the World Cup in 2002. The Republic are in the fourth group of seeds for the finals draw which will be made on the 2nd December. Giovanni Trapattoni’s men have been drawn alongside Denmark, France and Czech Republic in Pot 4. Speaking to reporters after the game Shay Given was realizing the dream of making it to the European Championships.
