Nine TD’s have joined a campaign of opposition to the new 100 euro household charge – and say they are willing to go to prison over the issue.
The TD’s – made up of some Independents and some from the United Left Alliance – say the charge targets the poorest in society.
They want people to refuse to pay – even though they could be fined up to 2,500 euro.
Donegal South-West Deputy, Thomas Pringle, says if enough people refuse to pay the charge, then the Government cannot enforce it….
