Racing – Donegal Winner At Aintree Grand National

Donegal was claiming victory in Saturday’s Grand National at Aintree. 33-1 shot Neptune Collonges who won the top prize in a photo finish was ridden by jockey Daryl Jacob. Dary’s mother, Anne Gallagher is from the Portnoo area. The ride was offered to Ruby Walsh first but as second jockey to the stable of Paul Nicholls, Jacob inherited the mount when Walsh chose to look elsewhere. Daryl dedicated his victory to Irish jockey Kieran Kelly who was killed following a fall in Kilbeggan in 2003.
