Mullooly calls for the introduction of the Fertiliser Support Scheme

A Midlands-North-West MEP is calling on the Agriculture Minister to urgently open the fertiliser support scheme to farmers.

The scheme provides €15 million in EU funding to help offset the cost of fertiliser purchases, with that support capable of being increased through national funding by up to 200 percent.

Ciaran Mullooly claims the Government is failing to act proactively and is waiting for a PR opportunity to announce the supports.

He says any delay could result in farmers facing even higher fertiliser costs.
