A Donegal TD is urging parents not to resort to moneylenders to pay for First Communions in the coming weeks.
Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Children Charlie Mc Conalogue says a recent EBS survey suggests that Irish parents will spend a total of €33 million over the next few weeks on their children’s First Communions, while the children themselves will be given a total of €20 million in gifts and cash.
Deputy Mc Conalogue says with the estimated cost of a Communion now around €554 per child, parents may be tempted to borrow……….
