Buncrana Council wants non-Irish doctors to take language test

Buncrana Town council is to write to the HSE calling for English fluency standards to be put in place for Doctors from outside the country being employed in Ireland.
The issue was raised by Councillor Mary Kelly who says she has been contacted by numerous people who claim to have not understood Doctors from outside Ireland that where treating them in hospital.
Councillor Kelly has expressed her concern that a language barrier could lead to misdiagnosis – she spoke earlier on the Shaun Doherty Show:
