Relay for Life Donegal getting underway this evening

The Irish Cancer Society is expecting to raise tens of thousands of euro this weekend in Donegal with the inaugural “Relay for Life”, a 24 hour event centred on the track at the LYIT in Letterkenny.
As well as the fundraising walk and other initiatives, there will also be an ecumenical service and events to celebrate those who have survived cancer.
The Relay for Life, which will be streamed live on the internet, gets underway at 5.30 this evening, with the first lap of the track at 6 o’clock. Thousands of people are expected to come to participate or attend ceremonies over the 24 hour period.
At dusk tonight, the Luminaria ceremony will see thousasnds of candles lit in an event which Relay for Life Chairperson Robert O’Connor believes will be a major highlight……….
