New Mayor of Donegal Frank McBrearty aims to promote the county

The new Mayor of Donegal says he believes his profile nationally and internationally will help him to promote Donegal and build on the work of his predecessors.
Cllr Frank Mc Brearty was elected Mayor of Donegal last evening in a two way contest with Fianna Fail Cllr Rena Donaghy, becoming the first Labour politician to take the top job on Donegal County Council. His party colleague Cllr Martin Farren is the new Deputy Mayor.
In 2005, Cllr Mc Brearty settled a libel action against the state for 1.5 million euro on foot of the findings of the Morris Tribunal.
He says the tribunal and its conclusions have given him a profile, and he can use that to Donegal’s advantage………
