The government has been unable to offer any reassurance over the future of the Malin Head Coastguard Station and has perhaps cast further doubt.
The Fisher report published earlier this year suggested that Malin Head and Valentia Coastguard stations be closed and the service centralised to Dublin.
The issue was raised in the Seanad by Brian O’Domhnaill ahead of an Oireachtas meeting on the matter later this month when it is expected the decision making process will be examined.
