Work has begun which is hoped will finally resolve the water problems affecting the water supply in the Lifford and St Johnston areas.
Funding has been available to repair a trunk line for almost 18 months but work only began this week.
The delay has left hundreds of homes with a poor water supply and has also been blamed for holding up much needed road improvements.
Local Councillor Gerry Crawford says the work will not be done overnight and will cause inconvenience but should be worth it in the end:
