Hockey – Big Cup Win For Raphoe

On New Years Day, Raphoe the county’s only hockey club won their first senior cup competition by taking the Linden Cup.
Raphoe’s prolific goal-scorer, Matthew Leckey started 2013 in style, by scoring the match winning goal to give his side victory over Bangor.
Raphoe came from a goal down thanks to an equalizer from Willliam Kilpatrick. With less than three minutes remaining and the match destined for extra time, Raphoe won their seventh penalty corner and this time Leckey sent the ball high into the roof of the net.
That gave the Co Donegal club a 2-1 win after a lively final at DeramorePark in Belfast.
Coach with Raphoe is David Buchannon and he spoke with Oisin Kelly after Tuesday’s  fantastic win.
