IFA dismisses Agriculture Minister’s announcement that farmers will receive 75% of EU payments in October

The IFA’s dismissing the Agriculture Minister’s announcement that farmers will receive three-quarters of their own EU payments on October 16th instead of seventy per cent.

It says it will have little or no impact at farm level.

The Association’s President Francie Gorman argues what was announced by Minister Martin Heydon on Friday is not new funding.

He says it’s cash flow that farmers need to allow them buy either concentrate or native grain to stretch the supply they have in order to get through the winter, and there was no mention of paying out the funding allocated under the EU’s fertiliser strategy:
