Northern Ireland’s Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development has admitted that Strabane lost out on 800 civil service jobs without a business plan for the move being considered.
It was announced last September that 800 civil service jobs would be moving from Belfast to Ballykelly at the site of the former Shackleton Army Barracks.
But in October a leaked memo revealed that Strabane actually topped a table of suitable locations for the jobs.
Strabane Councillor Patsy Kelly this week raised the issue again with Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Michelle O Neill who admitted that the decision was taken without a business plan being drawn up.
