Planning permission for new Raphoe football facilities appealed to An Board Pleanala

A Donegal County Council decision to approve planning permission for the Raphoe Town Football Club to build a new Football pitch, clubhouse and car park has been appealed to An Bord Pleanala.
In January, conditional permission was granted for the development to be located at Drumineney, Raphoe but the development is now under doubt.
Ciaran Neary, who spoke on behalf of at least 15 neighbours adjacent to proposed development objected to the original application considered by Donegal County Council.
They argued that it would interfere with the enjoyment of their rural homes through noise pollution, light pollution and extra traffic.
The group also argued that the service road for the development was not adequate and that work would be carried out close to a national monument.
Despite the objections the council awarded conditional planning permission. That decision has now been appealed to An Bord Pleanala in the name of Ciaran Neary with a decision due from the board on the 21st of May.
