A 70-year-old man charged with a series of sex offences against boys in west Donegal is to stand trial in October.
Garda Ciaran Cassidy told Glenties District Court today(Wed) that he had served the book of evidence on the man. The 70-year-old is charged with offences dating back to 1984.
He was accused of six charges of gross indecency against males under 17 between February 2001 and June 2006. He was also accused of one charge of indecent assault on a young male between June 1984 and September 1984.
Judge Paul Kelly returned the man, who cannot be named at this stage for legal reasons, to the criminal Circuit Court at Letterkenny for trial on October 29.
He advised the man, who was dressed in a suit and tie, that if he wishes to call alibi evidence he has 14 days to give notice to the prosecution.
The judge remanded the man on continuing bail and reminded him he must continue to report at regular intervals to his local Garda station and that he must not make any direct or indirect approaches to
witnesses or alleged injured parties
