The Western Health and Social Care Trust says it continues to provide support to Letterkenny General Hospital, and continues to accept critically ill patients from the Letterkenny catchment.
In a statement this afternoon, the trust says since Friday, Altnagelvin has received in excess of 100 blue light patients, and admitted 41.
We understand the bulk of emergency cases from Letterkenny General Hospital are now being diverted to Sligo, with only critical cases being sent to Derry.
On today’s Shaun Doherty Show, Sligo Emergency Department Consultant Fergal Hickey said a situation could develop where the pressure alternates between Sligo and Derry for a number of weeks.
He says by tomorrow, his department could be under very serious pressure……….

Local GPs have been notified, and will liaise with the local Community Mental Health Teams to arrange assessments and admissions as necessary.
